Privacy
The short version: there are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. The only thing meant to be public is the URL you choose to put on the board.
What we don't collect
URLBattle has no user accounts and asks for no personal information — not your name, not your email, not a password. We set no cookies. We run no analytics, no session recording, no advertising pixels, and no third-party scripts of any kind. Nothing on these pages is loaded from an external service.
What is stored, and where
The leaderboard is kept in your own browser's local storage, under the key
urlbattle_board. It never leaves your device unless you choose to
claim a spot. Clearing your browser's site data removes it completely, and you can
reset it yourself at any time by visiting the board with
?reset=1.
The games keep your progress the same way — locally, in your browser.
What becomes public
When you claim a spot you provide two things: a URL and a short description of the site. Both are intended to be published on the board for anyone to read, along with the score you set. Please don't put anything private in either field — a description box on a public leaderboard is not the place for personal information.
As the board moves to a server
URLBattle is being developed toward a shared, server-hosted board so that everyone sees the same rankings. When that lands, claimed entries — the URL, the description and the score — will be stored on our server rather than only in your browser, because that is the only way a shared leaderboard can work. That change does not add accounts, cookies or tracking, and this page will be updated to describe exactly what the server keeps before it goes live.
Links to other sites
Every listing on the board links to a third-party website we don't control and
aren't responsible for. Those sites have their own privacy practices. Board links
carry rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer", so your browser does not
pass a referrer when you follow one.
Removing a listing
If your site is on the board and you want it gone, email hello@urlbattle.com and it will be removed. You don't need to prove ownership or explain why.
